Tianma ramping up automotive panel shipments

China-based panel maker Tianma Microelectronics has seen its shipments of automotive panels increase significantly in recent years, cashing in on the growing new energy auto market driven by the increasing popularity of IoV technology, according to industry sources.

The company has managed to ship dashboards, central information display (CID) and dual-display devices to a number of Chinese automakers, including NIO, Xiaopeng, BYD Auto, GAC New Energy and Roewe, said the sources.

It ships its 10.1- and 12.8-inch CID devices to BYD Auto, 12.3-inch dashboards to Xiaopeng and 8.8- and 8.9-inch dashboards for NIO's ES-series models, the sources indicated.

Tianma has recently introduced a 1.4-meter integrated display paired with OLED rearview mirrors enabling a number of functions including gesture recognition, navigation, entertainment, video conference, online shopping and smart home applications through fingerprint sensing technology.

It has also launched local dimming-enabled curved displays featuring ultra-high contrast black display systems to strengthen driving safety at night.

In cooperation with Taiwan's LED chipmaker PlayNitride, Tianma also unveiled recently a 7.56-inch AM micro LED automotive panel featuring a transmittance ratio of 60% and a pixel density of 114ppi.
