Radiant reportedly to begin BLU shipments for new miniLED-backlit Apple devices in August

LED backlight unit (BLU) maker Radiant Opto-Electronics is expected to begin shipments for miniLED BLUs for use in new iPad mini in August 2021 as well as those for use in 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro in August-September, according to industry sources.

Such shipments will mainly contribute to Radiant's consolidated revenues beginning the fourth quarter of 2021, the sources said.

Radiant shipped 11.538 million LED BLUs in June, increasing 3.3% on month.

Radiant has reported consolidated revenues of NT$4.628 billion (US$166 million) for June, increasing 3.35% on month but decreasing 10.09% on year; those of NT$14.032 billion for second-quarter 2021, dropping 0.25% sequentially and 7.88% on year, and those of NT$28.099 billion for January-June grew 18.07% on year.

Radiant's shareholders have approved the distribution of a cash dividend per share of NT$8.00 for 2020, accounting for 71.17% of the corresponding net EPS of NT$11.24.
