LED driver IC design-house Macroblock will start ramping up its shipments of miniLED-backlight solutions in the second half of 2021, targeting notebook and large-size TV applications.
Including other miniLED-backlight driver ICs for tablets, wearables and automotive displays, shipments of miniLED products are likely to account for 10% of Macroblock's total sales in 2021, according to industry sources.
Meanwhile, the company revealed it has seen increasing shipment pull-ins for large-size LED signage boards from clients in China recently, expecting shipments to this segment in the third quarter to be higher than those a quarter earlier.
It also saw the order visibility for some LED driver ICs for specialty applications extend to year-end 2021.
Macroblock has reported revenues of NT$274 million (US$9.85 million) for May, up 4.37% sequentially and 130% on year, bolstered by rising chip prices and increased shipments of driver IC solutions for high-end LED signage boards, the company said.
For January-May, revenues totaled NT$1.11 billion, increasing 43.7% from a year earlier.
