China's panel makers will account for 70% of global LCD panel production capacity soon, up from roughly 60% currently, according to industry sources.

BOE Technology and China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) were the top-two LCD panel suppliers in the first half of 2020, followed by Innolux, Chongqing HKC, Samsung Display, LG Display and AU Optronics (AUO).

Production of LCD TV panels will become more concentrated in 2021 after BOE and CSOT complete their deals to take up control of LCD fabs from CEC-Panda LCD Technology and Samsung Display respectively.

TV shipments in the North American market increased by 20% on year in the first eight months of 2020, lifting sales for brand vendors in the region, including Samsung Electronics, TCL, Vizio, Hisence and LG Electronics, said the sources, citing market data.

TCL shipped 7.33 million TVs globally in the third quarter of 2020, up 29% sequentially and 52.7% on year, with the annual growth being the highest among all vendors, added the sources.
