Taiwan-based makers received export orders worth US$67.90 billion in total in December 2021, hitting a monthly record for the second consecutive time with growth 3.7% on month and 12.1% on year, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) on January 20.
Taiwan-based makers' overseas production took up 54.4% of the total value.
Electronic products and IT/communication products were the top two categories in terms of export order value for December, with the former generating US$21.65 billion and the latter US$21.64 billion.
The fourth-quarter 2021 export order value of US$192.50 increased 12.1% on quarter and 13.3% on year; the 2021 yearly export order value of US$674.13 billion rose 26.3% on year.
